Painted targets / missing aircraft: Way too many un-answered questions with #Benghazi.

Often, you may garner more information from the comments sections than the actual articles. Some come from those “In the know” as well.

I troll some closed boards so don’t get frustrated. I wanted to include where this information came from.

One thing certain, SEAL does not waste time painting a target unless he thinks it will be hit as it will expose his position and those batteries do not last too long.

The timelines conflict and the accounts are not working for me either. It leaves more questions than answers.

“An LTD (Laser Target Designator) is somewhat similar to a non-directional ground beacon (NDB) which aviators use for guidance. The NDB transmits a radio frequency signal whether aircraft are present or not. The LTD “paints” or lases a target directionally, for weapons and targeting systems (which have on-board laser acquisition devices) to identify and vector toward. As long as your LTD batteries are up, you can’t paint all day long. I hope this is helpful.”

Having spent a good bit of time nursing a GLD (ground Laser Designator) in several garden spots around the world, something from the report jumped out at me.

One of the former SEALs was actively painting the target. That means that Specter WAS ON STATION! Probably an AC130U. A ground laser designator is not a briefing pointer laser. You do not “paint” a target until the weapons system/designator is synched; which means that the AC130 was on station.

Only two places could have called off the attack at that point; the WH situation command (based on POTUS direction) or AFRICOM commander based on information directly from the target area.

If the AC130 never left Sigonella (as Penetta says) that means that the Predator that was filming the whole thing was armed.

If that SEAL was actively “painting” a target; something was on station to engage! And the decision to stand down goes directly to POTUS!”

“A military source familiar with the eight-hour Benghazi firefight provided this timeline to The Washington Times to answer the most central question surrounding the death of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans: Why did the U.S. military take no direct action to stop the two terrorists assaults? […] But on Sept. 11, AfriCom was still a command “in paper only,” as one former Bush administration official put it.

The military source told The Times, “AfriCom has very few assigned forces.”

Gen. Ham lacked what is called a commander in-extremis force, which other combatant forces have set up to respond to crises such as Benghazi. He also lacked the assets to assemble a generic quick-reaction force.

As a result, the four-star general turned to a national response force in the United States on call 24 hours a day. He worked through the European Command to tab its commander in-extremis force. This unit was conducting training in Central Europe. It had to be briefed on the mission and taken to an airfield, a process that took hours. The national and European strike forces finally arrived in Sigonella air base in Sicily on Sept. 12.

“They both had something in common,” the military source said. “When they both arrived on the 12th, the evacuation of the CIA base had already been completed.”

As the two units flew to Sicily, Gen. Ham, a combat veteran of the Iraq War, looked at other options and saw few. He had no AC-130 gunships, which can be effective in urban combat by isolating and firing on enemy targets. He also had no armed drones such as the missile-carrying Predator that can strike a gunman precisely.”

“If it’s true that GEN Ham had no In-Extremis Force, or any other response capability… then why was he even in the chain of command?”

Ouch.

“…Gen. Ham, monitoring the Sept. 11-12 attacks in Benghazi, had only one real option to intervene directly: F-16s stationed at Aviano Air Base, across the Mediterranean in Italy.”

I also failed to mention this earlier:

“Four hours later, the attack is renewed, and while the mortars aren’t “painted” with lasers, some of the attackers are — as “warnings not to fire.” Three mortar shells then hit the roof, killing Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods.”

11-09-12 – “Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is telling Congress that the military did not have armed aircraft near Libya that could have helped defend against the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.” 

It sounds to me that ALLCON did all they had with what they had, minus an F-16.

My take, POTUS and Staff watched their friends die and there was nothing they could do about it. I remember Hillary looking devastated.

What is this you celebrate? Well take a look sea. July 4 is what it is but what year?

Who was this?

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.
He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

Remember the originating simple thing outlined for governance upon stepping foot in this land America.

Back to Declaring – We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. The erosion of Institutional structure and it’s only getting worse from here.

There are probably few souls out there who dis-agree that military spending must be cut. Few also know that it is the only spending that is getting cut, and it is getting cut hard. A cut is not a thousand paper cuts, that’s just cruel:

“Why should I keep on bleeding myself and my family dry on MQT, CMR, FMC, UTE, RAP, FLUG, DTS, TDYs, OPRs, ATSO, SARC, CBTs, AT/FP, IA/IP, UCIs, SORTS,OREs, ORIs, AEFs, IPUG, BMC, when in the end nothing that I do seems to matter? To put it another way, why should I put service before self when my Chief is systematically dismantling my service? To use a perhaps appropriately joint analogy, I’m a strong swimmer – so why stay aboard a ship whose captain is running it aground?”

POTUS, do you have any idea how difficult it is to build a Professional Military and keep it? What happens when you try to rebuild it during a war? Do you know the half assed nature of your witless Flag Officers and how pathetic they have become?

Do you understand the ramifications of this – the biggest purge of all of our Federal services since Roosevelt? Do ANY of you understand what this leads too?

You are going to get very many people killed around here (And Elsewhere). It will take years to rectify this that you have done. Naval Officers talking bio-fuel pipedreams for Naval engagements of the future where no bio-fuel is.

Flag Officers speaking of war-gaming as “Anti-this or that”. War gaming is what Officers do. What do I need a Flag Officer for if he refuses to do it because it is “Abhorrent”? Talk to Lee in your inner Soul if you have one. Talk to Patton. Talk to George Washington or Lincoln for fucks sakes. Talk to GOD. What is correct is the Oath you took and if you look hard enough, you will it’s purpose.

A Military is only an evil tool if you have idiots running it, and it is evil more to it’s own Soldiers by the lack of virtue you show in the respect for their positions on the battlefield.

This is not a leak the WhiteHouse made that will get people killed. This is an Airforce Tradition that gets people saved. You had better not go after them.

Where was the Watch on Concordia?

Leaders must stand during disasters, even if they created it. A Captain has been accused of Manslaughter. This thing from front to end strikes me as a poor leadership and complacency. Court is not in session yet, but there is much to learn from this thing…. whatever it is.

I am fundamentally proud of MY Countrymen as they are able to eventually make the correct decisions. Americans are faithful. They can be thorough if their lives depend on it. We are resourceful and have enough brainpower to last four more centuries. I have seen genius generosity and industriousness and hope to see more in the next few years.

Micro level experience in #Logistics

I must give accolades to a very good Commander I had in the army. We both were very hard pressed to ensure property accounting. She correctly demanded all of the paperwork laid out and all property missing on record to not reflect against her taking of Command. She is one of better and hardcore Commanders I have had. And I have had many.

Prior to her arrival, I was charged with unit supply. I was just learning, and trying to learn the Unit’s tactical needs at the time. They were great and there was specialized equipment. Expensive equipment. We were always under stocked. I was also trying to figure out (all) the Platoons strengths and weaknesses in property management (for appropriation of material).

Her first impression of me was in the basement of the Company barracks where my office was (supplies as well) and the light socket for the overhead florescent lights had been broken due to equipment moving into that office. So, all I had to meet her with was an old barracks light, 40 WATTS. It was a dark first meeting.

I had my Property Book posted on the wall and was tracking what I thought was happening to equipment. She was pissed (rightly so) I had not introduced myself and gave her a copy of the property books.

I should have had all books open then, yet I was still waiting and it was too long for her.  She wanted me out immediately and I do not blame her. Every Commander has a problem with whom is conducting change of command. Loyalties are always to be questioned and rightly so. Maybe she was unsure of me (doh). My little secret was that I knew that the more paperwork this mess made would trouble both commanders. The one leaving pays, the one coming in pays in two ways. They pay for what is missing because they have to wait on it and ensure it arrives, and they pay when they do not have it. Mine impression as so much equipment moved without chain of custody was that it was buried somewhere where it was last lent.

Drink a few beers with the guys and the ones with special requests is not corrupt. Learning the Unit is imperative to cohesion, and that leads to honesty.

I bought the biggest and baddest assed sets of bolt cutters I could find and had my most awesomest Mexican Mechanic on stand by with a blow torch and  pulled crap out of storage sheds that nobody even knew was ours. Turned out, we had everything after protest of “why can’t we have over our quantity, we need it”? I retort, “Because it belongs to that Platoon Sergeant and maybe he needs it more as he is missing one.”

Ergo, I failed to do my job to my boss by provision of all accountability – albeit assigned. Yet I did a great job of making sure my Commander had the equipment that was not lost were she to have to deploy according to our MTOE. It probably saved all of the 1LT’s in the Battalion from doing investigations (Which cost probably $2,900.00 each to conduct) or charging Soldiers for equipment they may not have been reckless with losing in the first place.

She was awesome. She wanted a Chit or a physical property she was signing for. She told me she had lost patience but still sat with us until midnight verifying the equipment there. She was right but the unit was busy and maybe a little too reckless. She really cut me a good break. Every time I told her it was there, the Platoon Sergeants brought it forward for me. It was awesome, she inspired them to provide what they were accountable for.

I was in a Line Unit that traded equipment as fast as they could get it. On the ground ops required equipment fast, but a paper trail would make it harder to find and Platoon Leaders may not have the time to function in their duties with a report of survey especially if they are JR LT’s. Nor does Battalion, Brigade, G-4, J-4 want to mess with it so  I found what was missing.

That joint operations thing can be somewhat had when you are going back and forth with military hardware.

Back to subject:

I was still relatively new to the unit but had been assigned position after a lackluster attitude on true accountability. I was torn between tactical needs and the accountability of the equipment that had to move quickly for mission purpose. And that was the best lesson of all. At some levels you write the expensive stuff off, and some levels you must count paper clips.

Screw paperclips. “Who had that Dewalt last? Why did you switch weapons with “########” ? Does this truck belong to you now? Where is the Basic Issue Items?

I left a Field Artillery unit where I physically accounted for $30 Million dollars worth of equipment and an arms room with quickly changing MTOE (Equipment Requirements). I went to war with that unit and then went to OSJA (JAG) in Carson. Really neat. Re-upped Airborne to go to Bragg and see how much awesomeness they could show me, and they did.

So here I sit in a dimly lit room with no property book  or shortage annex or change of command inventory to give this commander. And I felt like a worm. I really did.

Yet I worked with this unit for a while and was comparing our 1 hour roll out heavy arty Fulda Gap convoy experience with an 18 hour or less Airborne Unit. I found “missing” equipment there too.

We all learned for the sake of that is expected by the DOD. Sensitive items are eggs you carry. Do not drop them. And the rest you could pay for as well. Yet, making sure it is there is more important than pushing papers.

One thing should be made sure; Simple accountability does not require signature and it also does not mean you may pin it on your younger leaders when your element loses accountability. You need that equipment and you should make sure you have it.

What This Commander did to help me in this Unit was to make all of the Platoon Leaders and Platoon Sergeants very, VERY aware of accountability of equipment.

She elevated the position of Logistics higher than Brigade level, and took our entire Battalion into a logistics aware environment like never before.  This Commander wanted to work with another very educated and awesome Leader that she knew as an LT. And I do not blame her. But she got stuck with me.

I got her out of there without missing anything. And the Commander after that. And the Commander before her. But she was the only one that forced the issue. She showed me accountability in the means of ensuring command power through accountability. Once the Unit learned of this new practice, it became part of their SOP – their daily work.

What I ended up with was a Unit that would turn in excess equipment and I rarely had to charge anyone for it. That just awesome men. Soldiers were turning in what they found and they were getting it back. “After your patol last weekend you left….. and PFC …. turned in…..”.

Kids had families and little pay back then – ohhh so long ago.

She gave me a pass and I appreciate that. Thank you Maam

All of the proven bad ideas resurrected to not only hollow the Armed Services of the US, but will effectively cripple it. A strong Military is imperative to this Republic.

As for pay, why should anyone in the executive earn more than a member of the military? Why should anyone in government earn more than someone willing to die for the institution (if so being said is a just “institution”)?

This is a waste of my time. The military is one of the few things that this government is supposed to do, and do damn well. And they have. Highly educated and loving Soldiers are fielding the horrors waged upon US by the barbarians from hell. Gentle Giants are doing Gods bidding on purely honest terms and saving lives. A Constitution of a Republic they have sworn Oath to protect.

It’s bad enough you do not count their votes in elections, but you want to give them a pay cut for waging 6 wars you directed them to? The Op-tempo is too high, they have too much at stake, and now you betray them by any means possible.

These are the most professional people on the planet. They are highly experienced as well as very highly educated. We, the Military were trained how to fight wars, set up cities, keep the peace, be carpet crawlers, and maintain very highly technical battle as well as LAW systems. That enough is skill sets you need to maintain a defense of the finest country ever in all of human history.

These skills apply in the worst places on earth where shrapnel and bullets fly. Your local accessibility of these fighters may help you in a hurry.

It does not matter the particular skills that are learned in the military. All are worthy in times of great need. You Mr President will always want them on your block. Think about that.

A draft? Do you like the unwilling to serve under you? Do you want to saddle the willing warriors of massive compassion and integrity with participants who have no feel for the game? Who have no courage or care? The guy behind you when he panics puts his rifle on auto but was shaking too much when SHTF….  Never mind.

No thanks. Thanks for your fake empathy but we are not victims, we are not stupid, and not going to puppet your cause. We want professional ranks that communicate life saving ideas with each other. We test each other for loyalty and ensure there is solid ground below us before we obligate people and their families in what may be turmoil already to an ever increasing op-tempo of “kinetic and non kinetic warfare”.

We got coins, and COIN and …   The damned paperwork and the troop that was doing drugs, and the girl that got pregnant to not go. Or the guy that’s the best Soldier you have ever seen but happens to be the Angel to arrive at every crime scene and save lives, but is the one that kept more than 42 people in your Battalion from getting killed or going to jail….  which is why he is in jail. That’s who I want with me.

COL Petraeus was accidentally shot at the range by a green Soldier, whom happened to be a Fine Soldier. The punishment was that this Soldier had to go to Ranger School and pass. That’s an awesome punishment if you really like to learn things and believe you can serve to your maximum ability.

A Commander picks his people if possible, if not, we have Non Commissioned Officers on site already (salty Soldiers – bent to hell and back and for some, 11 times). They know more about anything any lawyer will tell you.

If your are lucky, you get a good Warrant Officer too. They report to Congress.

Men and Women of the Military with a babysitting job? That’s a handicap to a professional force.

I do not know what happened to DC, but this cut defense during escalation is a No Go. These plans and the disdain for those whom serve and Die for this country do not count on that hill. More whom have been wounded in your collective protections face cuts as well? If one died for this world and country, That one did it for you.

I know there are problems with spending in the Military, but I also know there are more problems with spending on these cheesy bureocrazies that hamper all of our ways of Life.

Why cannot you learn why things were the way they were first before trying to ram-rod your ill conceived plans into the culture that provided your security? Are you planning to collapse this society altogether?

Following a read of Walter Russel Meads column, it is to be said that this country has the rarest opportunity to change for the better.  With all of the current pessimism underfoot, it is likely that Americans will open their minds to more bold solutions than the draconian traditions of populist politics (#FAIL). There are options available but I am sure you are tired of my ranting about Herman Cain.

But you never know. It may be possible to open a new Century for this country versus becoming like France, except with worse food. Or Argentina – always trying to get back up.

The time for financial responsibility has come to pass. Ryan has worked his magic yet with little support from the Executive Branch or the Senate. The Budget – the Congress final responsibility is more than Two years overdue thanks for the cockroaches that were managing that office prior to last year.

Unaccountability in the office of “Law maker” is anarchy. Assigned blame for last years budget falls on both branches. This year will apply to both as well.

It’s time to buck up, block, shut it down, or whatever it takes. The ceiling has been reached.

#Egypt may decide the future of the entire middle east

The world is waiting on a decision from both Egypt and Tunisia. We have doubts that things will be better for you after the overthrow. As most know the Moslem world tends to follow the strong horse in every case. It seems as in your case, Egypt, you will have a member of the old guard in your leadership.

Amr Moussa may be the new President in Egypt. I cannot say if that is good or bad but remember, Israel is a partner to GOD. So, you decide. Things could go very good, or very bad. In any case, you will be the leader of the Arab world.

Tunisia also must quickly form a system that is amiable to most of it’s citizens. Unlike Egypt, you have more European roots, and may take kinder view of the minorities in your state (Say Christian and Jew). Yet this also could be threatened if you do not choose the correct style of leadership.

In any case, we are waiting and quality beats time in tour choice.

His language is plain and simple enough for people to understand, and his understanding of the issues is of a very complex nature – proven with the second video of him challenging Bill Clinton during a town hall meet. For years I have listened to him and I swear he was speaking my mind.

Part one:With his two part plan, he sets the country up for immediate economic resurgence.

1) Lower the corporate tax rate to 25 percent from 35 percent. Cain said the US is the only country to not have lowered the corporate tax rate in the last 15 years.

2) Take the capital gains tax rate to zero. Cain said it would encourage investments in US businesses and create jobs.

3) Take the tax rate on the repatriation of foreign profits for US companies to zero. Cain said this money, currently around $1 trillion for US companies, isn’t coming back anyway because of existing taxes on repatriating them. Taking away that tax would encourage investments in US businesses and create jobs.

4) Cut the entire 6.2 percent payrolls tax for workers and employers for 1 year. Cain said it would give American workers a 6.2 percent pay raise and “guarantee” that the US economy grows faster. 10/13/11 – Herman Cain’s “999 Plan”: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – A quick breakdown. Still, anything is better than what we have. Herman swears that the national sales tax is merely gearing the nation towards the fair tax – a transition if you will. Herman really needs to touch up on his foreign policy, some things are not insignificant. Also, a suggestion for Herman on the 999 plan. 10/15/11 – Denninger weighs in. Interesting part is here: ” What Cain is missing (and perhaps intentionally; if so he’s a jackass, not a savior) is that saving 15% of your income is more than sufficient, along with a modest help from Social Security and Medicare, to self-fund your entire retirement from savings alone.  That is, it requires no risk-taking in the “capital markets.”  There’s only one condition on this: The Federal Government and The Fed must be forced to stop debasing the currency — that is, they must run a zero inflation policy under penalty of imprisonment (or worse.)  If Cain supports this, then he’s a reformer.  If he does not, he’s simply playing politics and intends to screw you blind via hidden taxation.” Do not forget that this is meant as a transitional plan to the Fair Tax. And yes, QE is an inflation rate that is a tax on ALL people so now we need to make sure this most dishonest and financially destructive method of masking monetary sovereignty.

Next is this astute observation: “Actually, it’s more than that.  $800 billion is a fanciful number; we ran $1.7 trillion in deficits in calendar 2010, and are going to be well over $1 trillion in 2011.  To believe we will get under that number by 2013 presumes forward economic conditions that are, on balance, pure fantasies. “ Not really.  Bringing corporate tax rate down to 9% brings lots of working capital into the country. If we have 3 quarters of 5.5% or more growth, the growth could shorten that number. Revenues go up as does that calculation so it actually makes sense. The wild card of course is the incredible regulation and lawfare taking effect currently. Anything,  is better than what we have now.

10/16/11 – From what I remember, the TARP program was meant to identify and separate the government loans that the government forced upon the banks and relieve them of that responsibility. I think they took Cain out of context because I clearly remember him speaking about returning the banks to private hands after the process was finished. Anyway, He must defend this case. 10/17/11 – Cain said the most thoughtful things on the worst “news media” channel in America. NRO bashes his 9-9-9 plan. Economic collapse takes a shot at the plan too. Herman Cain responds. Talk upon the plan in relation to the “99%” 10/18/11 – Remembering Cain at the Kansas City Federal Reserve. Does not sound bad to me. Also, if you use a race card in your political existence, remember you must pay interest.  Art Laffer likes Cains 9-9-9 plan. Even the poor need to have skin in the tax game. Maybe then they will vote for people that will keep the rate low. There is not reason to give a freeloader a free ticket to ride on other peoples backs. Also, Herman Cains donations to political figures explained. What has not been explained is that Cains plan helps the working class more than any plan. The black market becomes legal. It is there, it helps the poor in barter – just what we need now. It is all being done there anyway.

But it sure would you help to check Rantburg and study up because the day your term starts, you need to know that everything happens at the beginning of a term.  Grab an atlas and look at the world as a whole, and find those countries where America is involved with in some way.  A better answer would be you have a rudimentary knowledge in some cases of a particular country.

Happy tax day. I wonder if you think about signing your name on the dotted line so you incriminate yourself if you forgot to disclose something. What is tax day anyways? A game of memory?

You know, one day soon, you will stick your little debit card in a machine and nothing will come out. Want to know why?

If you think the government is “taking care” of you, the poor, disabled, and elderly, you are sadly mistaken and I will tell you why.

America holds the worlds reserve currency and is de-valuing it on a daily basis. To the amount of $16 Billion a week. This is why fuel and food prices are rising world wide. Rising fuel prices also hits the economy creating unemployment. Much of the instability you see in the middle east is for this very reason, Food Prices up dramatically in the last year alone. They will continue to rise and there will be nothing anyone will be able to do about it – they are hurting the poor the most.

Monetizing currency creates inflation which causes fuel prices to rise which in turn adds more inflation. Seeing as how we refuse to drill for our own natural energy, they will increase even more. This situation alone is a spiraling, China will not be able to afford our debt, and the bond market will collapse as we are way past endgame now.  The shelves will be bare, fuel will be too expensive to drive to the store, and you will hold worthless currency. Right in time for a wheat shortage.

The fundamental problem at the forefront is you cannot monetize production, you cannot “control” it,  and you may not spend monitized currency to keep it. For with dropping revenue, you may not even support a months worth of work.

Government does no good at keeping your basic necessities available and affordable but they sure are good at making new complex programs and bankrupting them.

The US government now takes and wastes more money than Americans could ever produce. The federal government now must borrow money just to operate basic services. This will end one day very soon.  The narrative in the nations capitol is you belong to them. They regulate every aspect of your being and may take anything they want from you.

When government is more important than your Family, their property, their education, and Liberty, than America is no longer a free Republic. It is now indentured servitude. Government is so very hard to remove from your life – It will take everything from you.

Every federal government program is a draconian throwback to the past with no imagination or efficiency. The US federal government has become a parasite accountable only to hucksters, scammers, suckers, and baiters. It is pwned by the unions and government workers. Government takes care of government.

You have elected yourselves a very dense King that maintains foolish and childish notions of equality. He is unable to even do 8th grade math. This country could collapse under his term, as it should. After-all, 1+1= 13. Right?

All of your collegiate studies will mean nothing in a collapsed economy. What will be is very basic humanity in turmolt. I mean really? whats the use? As one economist put it during the $33 Billion spending cut fiasco “It’s like watching them squabble over who is going to pay for the drinks on the Titanic”

You have less than a year to correct course of this “unsinkable” ship or the USA will collapse, and is already taking the World with it.

A quip on leadership, and the lack thereof, and #POTUS from hell.

Imagine a king in any time in history that refused to pay his Armies during a war. Imagine that Kings fate.

Luckily for our President, we have the most professional Military in history. Try this with Roman Soldiers back in the day, they would have him shanked on day one.

So much for being non-partisan on this barely read space on the internet.

Regular government workers have the opportunity to seek other employment while they live with their families. Even welfare recipients will be paid. Yet, if you are a Soldier fighting the barbarians from hell in three wars right now, you are stuck in a screwed up dangerous country, fighting. While getting shot at, you are worring about your mortgage, kids, and car insurance. You have no way to leave the country or to find another way to support yourself.

No bargaining rights for these guys. Stuck under UCMJ -desertion is a crime.

Our President is Pure Evil.

The curse of failed systems and it’s stench on civilization.

Consistently making poor decisions leads to an anemic “operating system” called Government. Untenable. Our political appointees build programs on top of programs creating bigger problems than the programs were meant to fix.

Manufacturing crises and pretending to solve them with draconian measures.

There are many “models” that will fail no matter what is tried. Our femoral artery is gushing blood, and the government has proposed for a box of band-aids to fix it with.

The US is faced with leadership failure at all levels, as is the World. Tough decisions need to be made and actions carried out to get control of this leviathan. If not, happy collapse.

So, he did good in my view. I certainly was not a proponent to act at all as it was not within US interest. But (always a but) Al-Qaeda has been drooling over Libya so they could use it for their arms trade to further Islam in Africa. Gadaffi was preventing that. Without firm confirmation from the Rebels of support, it may have been against US interest and still may turn out so.

There also is the point of international co-operation. It seemed to pass very quickly, yet the Pentagon was really against it. I do not blame them at all.

You work with the messed up world you have instead of trying to make it what you want. Once France started to strafe, we had to engage. So, for the second time, good job Mr President.

 

That being from the fact that every time I say no, you say yes. And if I know you are going forth with it, the least we can do is support our Allies if they decide to get skin in the game.

Force of action has impact.

If you want to play, he is challenging you.

If you wait, he will kill them all. It will be the same again until they make enough babies to challenge him again.

One JDAM could end it all but you have to declare war for that. If you want a NFZ, I believe you must do the same. The Libyan government is not really “recognized”.

You are the executive, Obama. But understand that by LAW, if they plan to kill you, you must kill them first. Ergo, you have to sink a Navy, and ground an air force of an entire country you do not know will be friendly – or maybe they say they are. It’s your chain, and this is the last hour. Will you pull it for Hillary, or understand that we need standing fleets available for the pace of this here broken arrow? Events unseen and such…
You must be addicted to placing your words into action. Problem is, we are busy. Not that we cannot handle it – just the op-tempo has grown beyond comprehension and yet today you speak as the defense budget is the first on the chopping block.
I say anyone who pushes papers or collects them are non-essential, and if you have no vision, you have little place enforcing your vision on the middle east. That said, You are Commander In Chief and need to understand the ramifications of your actions. Not withstanding brackets, golf, and fundraisers to get in your way. Happy Purim

What the seizure of the ‘Victoria’ tells us about a changing world.

Naval power has again become the most prized force after a short while out of the limelight as air power ruled the 1990’s. Bound for Alexandria, the seizure of the Liberian flagged vessel by an Israeli vessel  Tuesday is significant in two ways: Israel no longer has a true partner in Egypt, and Iran is waging a proxy war in all quadrants of the Middle east – anything within it’s reach.

On first point, Egypt’s military is too busy handling the countries internal affairs and cannot wait to be freed of that responsibility. With-ought a government in control, the military is not at liberty to define national interest, or may be timid in acting to do so.

Israel must maintain it’s security.
